Picture it, it's the beginning of the school year and you're going back to school. Your self esteem is at an all time high, you're feeling confident and you have no worries whatsoever about bullies. Is this your dream? If your are a teen or pre teen, then of course it is!
Going back to school with no worries about bullying may seem impossible, but it's not!
Yes, there are lots of new things to think about when you're going back to school - new kids, new teachers, new content, new back to school supplies and we can't ignore the latest clothes, shoes and accessories, especially in fashion capitals like Miami.
Bringing the new, confident you back to school can feel a little strange at first, but you can do it, especially if you have the right tools for increasing your self esteem and confidence. I previously wrote a blog about the most important supply missing from the back to school list, better self esteem. Go back to that blog for some tips, and keep on reading for even more powerful ways to make your journey back to school for 2014 a whole new experience.
Back to school with confidence Tip #1: Increase your self esteem and confidence before you get back to school.
But how? Teen girls in Miami joined a self esteem program for teens called #selfie where teens actually got real tools for increasing self esteem and boosting their confidence to get them ready not only for going back to school, also for the rest of their lives! It was awesome. You should check out this program which is run by The Self Esteem Doctor in Miami.
The benefit of raising your self esteem before you get back to school especially if you're a teen or preteen, is that you'll be ready to handle so much of the back to school drama that comes your way, whether it's bullying, bad grades or not-so-nice teachers.
So, again you ask how? Here goes: Build your self esteem by focusing on all the things you love about yourself -stop giving so much time and attention the things you don't like. Then Increase your Confidence by walking with great posture, smiling often (a real and powerful smile) and making eye contact when you speak to your teachers and peers. These are just a few of the elements of something called the "Confidence Walk at the #selfie program for teens, it's amazing!
Back to school with confidence Tip #2: Give yourself a daily dose of high self esteem
If the school year has already started never fear, it's not too late to boost your confidence, manage bullying and actually feel ok (maybe even feel great!) at school. Use the tips above to build your self esteem and confidence. Then add this really easy tool every single day: focus on your wins.
In other words, focus on what you're doing right, your good grades, your positive social interactions, the peaceful conversations at home, just stay focused on the wins and the haves in your life and you will see a magical shift in how you feel from day to day. Believe it or not, doing that will help your self esteem and confidence to skyrocket in a way that starts to affect how bullies see and treat you, sounds crazy, but it's true!
Back to school with confidence Tip #3: Keep on Dreaming!
Nowadays, people talk about dreaming like it's a bad thing. WRONG!! Dreaming is an amazing way to stay focused on creating a positive future. So dream often and dream big! It will nurture and feed your self esteem and make you feel confident against bullying. Actually, after combining these tips, you may notice that bullies don't even see you as a target anymore. Check out other great ways to overcome bullying and avoid being a target.
Dreaming, especially with powerful imagination of a child, pre-teen or teen, reconnects you to feelings of hope, and that hopefulness (the exact opposite and virtual "cure" for depression) is what keeps you feeling good, capable and loving yourself and your life, that's Self Esteem!
So you see, going back to school here in Miami or in any state or country can be a confident and bully free experience if you have the right tools....like the ones we shared here and in the other blogs and of course at the amazing self esteem program for teens (it's called The SELFIE Workshop)
Parents are ready for their children and teens to go back to school, but they are not ready for the headache and heartache bullying can bring. Teachers are also getting ready for the back to school excitement, but would rather focus on academics rather than managing bullying and behavior issues all day.
Going back to school with increased self esteem and confidence is the answer, not just for bullying, but for life!
If you are a teen and your school is a huge bully playground, talk to your parents and the school administration, demand an intervention! Schools in Miami have easy access to The Self Esteem Doctor because we are based in Miami, and still schools nationwide can also request The Self Esteem Doctor on their campus as well.
Come on, take a stand, you are worth it! No bullying this year. Go back to school with better self esteem and amazing confidence.
