7 Abilities of Mega-Successful Kids and Teens

Lately, while working on my summer conference, I have been asking myself a couple of huge questions:

"What do our kids really need?"

"What do families, as a whole, need?"

As I set myself in agreement with receiving answers to my inspired questions, I began to notice what our kids are seeing on TV; constant lying, self criticism and disregard for others.

I noticed that the radio plays music with atrocious content (hidden in amazing rhythms and pretty awesome dances) that glorified drugs and degraded women.

I realized that the internet portrays people's "Fails,"rather than successes, as worthwhile entertainment.

I observed that way too many of our kids and teens are drinking alcohol and using drugs to cope with anxiety and deal with past hurts/disappointments.

I saw that our kids fought an sacrificed everything  fit into the mold that their friends, the radio and the TV set for them, while feeling somewhat disconnected from the guidance of their parents and guardians.

Even in my private coaching sessions with kids (and their parents) I learned that way too many kids are struggling with anxiety and feeling like they (their feelings, their responses, their performance) are never good enough.

...the list goes on and from it all, I was guided seamlessly into powerful content, lessons, tools and ideas to share with families, kids and teenagers this summer and always! Check it out and join the live seminar if you can.

What it Takes to be a Mega-Successful Kid/Teen

  1. Have a healthy self esteem - This requires truly understanding what self-esteem is and that it is about developing yourself in a way that allows you to contribute the BEST version of yourself to the world.
  2. Appreciate your support system - when kids understand what their support system looks like (positive, honest and forgiving) and what the benefits are, there can be an added appreciation and willingness to accept guidance and advice.
  3. Communicate their needs successfully - So often, our communication is limited to "our way" but understanding the communication styles of others can help kids, teens (and families) to communicate more effectively and ultimately get the help they need
  4. Use simple strategies to manage stress - Kids can benefit greatly when they learn that managing stress can be as easy as taking a few meaningful deep breaths, playing their favorite sport to relax or refocusing their attention is genuine and positive ways
  5. Learn to trust themselves and their abilities - It's fair to say that kids and teens do much better dealing with peer pressure when they trust themselves and their abilities, without having to rely on the validation of friends (or enemies). That's confidence!
  6. Understanding confidence and compassion - Many kids and especially teens, feel that confidence is something that is gained from pushing another down or competing for the title, but in fact, true confidence is filled with compassion for self and compassion for others.
  7. Find ways to bounce back from disappointment - bouncing back from disappointment is one of the best ways I've seen to remain hopeful.  When kids get lost in the negativity that they have gone through, it can be a huge road block to their future success.
So, we're giving this and so much more to kids and teens this Summer and truly owning the title I've earned over these past few years, read the blog, "The Next Tony Robbins for Kids and Teens."
