An incredible way to slow time

All too often we feel like our days and nights are fleeting... maybe even fleeing from us, never to be recovered!

When we meet with our friends, family and colleagues we often passionately share the sentiment about how much we are lacking in time. We even joke that we seem to be missing chunks of time as birthdays come faster than we can track and the bills seem to be due faster than we can possibly keep up with.

With a thing like "time," clearly it is out of our control, right?

Wrong! Well, sort of.

So no, we can't grab time by the ankles and make it slow down once and for all.

But a shift in individual perspective can quite literally slow your perception and actual experience of time.

Here it is:
1)Appreciation and 2)Focus on the Present Moment are the secret tools for slowing down your own experience of time.

Too easy?

Well here's the thing.. if we can savor our experiences just a bit more by actually being fully immersed in that moment in time...with great appreciation and gratitude,... then the sense of loss or longing can be greatly reduced.

Appreciating the moments that we do have, more than we mourn the time that has been lost, is perhaps one of the greatest ways to capture the beauty of the time that we are given.

I remember making the choice to stay home with my kids and to watch them grow.  I wanted to catch the key moments, first words, the first tooth...everything!  And so I was present, not just in the house, but aware and enjoying them...basking and playing with them...observing, appreciating and aligning with them, and you know what? It seems like they've been young forever.

People will see my kids after some time and say something like where does the time go?  ...and while I smile and say "I don't know." I really feel like saying, "It has taken it's sweet little time meandering by with these two kids of mine."

This is not because I am more special than anyone else or somehow received an extra couple hours in my day. Instead, I just made a decision not to live my life as a series of memories - that I can barely recall!

You can do this too - and no you don't need to quit your job and sit home staring at your teenagers and spouse.  Simply commit to staying present in each moment!  Value your now because yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not promised, so NOW is all we have.  And here time is slow, steady and deliciously enjoyable moment by moment.
