How to be Happy When... You can't get over a bad break up.

Imagine yourself in the middle of good ol' cry, painfully describing the heartbreak and betrayal you felt from a past love. Then all of a sudden, in the middle of blowing your nose, you begin to smile and say, "that wasn't a big deal, I don't think that was a problem at all."  That's exactly what happened to one of my clients during our session, check it out in this 'How to be Happy Success Story #3.

How to be happy: Success Story

I had a lovely client that came to me looking to get clarity on her goals (for her relationship and profession). She also wanted the motivation and confidence to go after them.  We began by digging a bit into her past and what things may be weighing on her subconscious.  We uncovered that she had a major desire to please people as well as a tremendous fear of failure.  In her mind, one of her greatest memories tied to these emotions was a breakup where an ex disrespectfully, and abruptly, ended things - at an advanced stage in the relationship.

What I did
My program is called NLP Plus, because I use many techniques besides just NLP.  The one I used with her was Emotional Freedom Tapping (EFT).  It is similar to Chinese acupuncture, but without the needles.

We identified the emotions tied to this memory and as we focused on the negativity (by repeating phrases and words out loud), we used our fingers to tap certain meridian point on her body to release the emotions.

The result of successful tapping is that you can no longer "feel" the negative impact of the emotions that once bothered you.  You still have the memory, but you no longer have the pain.

As she sobbed, I instructed her to tap and repeat the words, "My ex," "The pain," "Sadness."  At the end of the round I asked her how she felt.  She blew her nose, wiped her tears and said, "I really don't think that was the problem."  Aha!!  She couldn't connect to the negative emotions in that memory anymore.  It was a problem... but now it was gone!

How to be Happy: A version you can do at home
Tapping is as easy as it looks and you can do it successfully at home all by yourself - if you learn it properly.  The best advice I could ever give you is to send you to the creator of EFT, Gary Craig.  His website is http://www.emofree.com.  There is a lot to read and many elements to master, but it's worth it.  You could also reap the benefits and skip the studying by going to an EFT practitioner to tap with you and for you.  Use this Basic Tapping guide to help.
