No More Bandaids!

I refuse to give "Bullying" any more attention, so I'll call it the 'B-word'.  Yes, it is real and it is quite tragic.  In fact it seems like all of our efforts to "fight the B-word" are simply making it worse for our awesome teens who are just trying to survive school!  I say, "Confidence is the cure!!!!"

According to American Friends Service Committee and a host of other bully-prevention websites and organizations, over 5.7 million are involved in the 'b-word' (either as bully or as a target).  It's time we started to give our teens tools for coping with all difficulties in life, starting from school to life as a working adult. You and I can both help!

One of the simplest ways that you can help is to STOP using the word "Victim." Being a victim is a limiting and powerless representation of a bullying situation.   A more empowering perspective is "target..."  and with proper guidance, you can quickly and easily become a non-target by changing your perspective and your experience.

One of the ways I like to help you to change perspectives is by using techniques and language patterns that help you to reorganize the way your subconscious mind "sees" your situation. It's a powerful, swift and permanent solution in many cases.  Even if you don't have access to your own NLP expert or coach, there are a few things you can do at home.

  1. Use affirmations - positive statements about yourself beginning with "I am" (develop a habit of self-love!)
  2. Use visualizations - fantasize about your ideal future as often as possible - get lost in it and have a great time.
  3. Set your goals and focusing on them as if they have already happened.  It is a great way to use both affirmations and visualizations at once. For example,
    1. "I am a happy and successful business owner"
    2. "I am a confident and talented artist"
    3. "I am a dynamic speaker"
    4. "I am a superstar"
    5. "I am happy and fulfilled"

The gift of self-love, confidence and positive thinking is a magnificent gift that will help our kids face the new school year feeling rock solid and ready to excel!
